Weaves (Outfit Modifications)

Weaves are modifications that can be added to outfits. Weaves belong to one of the following categories:

  • Physical weaves are those which upgrade an outfit's resilience against impact damage.
  • Elemental weaves are those which upgrade an oufit's resilience against an elemental effects (such as corruption, fire, freeze, and shock).
  • Stealth weaves make an outfit quieter, allowing the wearer to be more stealthy.

Weaves can be applied to any outfit.

Weaves may be common, rare, and very rare. A weave's rarity affects its power as well as its sale value, which is shown on the table below.

Using Weaves

A hunter can add, remove, or replace any number of weaves to a single outfit over the course of an hour, which can be incorporated into a short or long rest.

Stacking Similar Weaves

Outfits with multiple modification slots can have multiple weaves. When these weaves add more than one instance of the same effect type, all numerical values, usage counts, or bonus dice are added together.

Weaves added to outfits that already grant similar benefits similarly stack.

Weaves with Multiple Effects

Weaves of higher rarities have a chance of possessing additional effects, effectively acting as though it were more than one weave in one. Roll a d100 and refer to the table below to see the number of effects a rare or very rare weave possesses.

A weave's secondary effect is treated as though it was one rarity step lower than its primary effect. For instance, if a weave is rare its secondary effect is equivalent to a common weave. A tertiary effect is equivalent to a weave two rarity steps lower. Thus a very rare weave's secondary effect is equal to a rare weave, and its tertiary effect would be equivalent to a common weave.

Some special rules apply when determining a weave's secondary and tertiary effects:

  1. A weave can't have two effects that are the same type. For instance if its primary effect is resist corruption, it can't gain a second resist corruption effect.
  2. Possibilities for a weave's secondary effect depend on the type of its primary effect.
    • If the weave's primary effect is Physical, then its secondary effect can only be resist corruption (1-2), resist fire (3-4), resist freeze (5-6), resist shock (7-8), or stealth (9-10). If you want to determine a weave's secondary effect randomly roll 1d10 and compare to the values given in brackets here and reroll results that would lead to a duplicate effect.
    • If the weave's primary effect is Elemental, then its secondary effect can only be resist melee (1-2), resist ranged (3-4), or stealth (5-6). If you want to determine a weave's secondary effect randomly roll 1d6 and compare to the values given in brackets here and reroll results that would lead to a duplicate effect.
    • If the weave's primary effect is Stealth, its secondary effect can be resist corruption (1-2), **resist fire (3-4), resist freeze (5-6), resist melee (7-8), resist ranged (9-10), or resist shock (11-12). If you want to determine a weave's secondary effect randomly roll 1d12 and compare to the values given in brackets here and reroll results that would lead to a duplicate effect.
  3. Possibilities for a weave's tertiary effect depend on the type of its primary effect.
    • If the weave's primary effect is Physical, then its tertiary effect is also Physical. If its primary effect was resist melee then the tertiary effect is resist ranged, and vice versa.
    • If the weave's primary effect is Elemental, then its tertiary effect is also Elemental and must be one of the three remaining elemental weaves. If you want to determine a weave's tertiary effect randomly assign the three possible weaves equal ranged between 1 and 6 (1-2, 3-4, 5-6), then roll 1d6.
    • If the weave's primary effect is Stealth, it cannot have a tertiary effect.

Weaves

Resist Corruption (Elemental)

Common. An outfit with this weave reduces the DC of saving throws against the corrupted condition by 2.

Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces the DC of saving throws against the corrupted condition by 4.

Very Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces the DC of saving throws against the corrupted condition by 6.

Resist Fire (Elemental)

Common. An outfit with this weave reduces the DC of saving throws caused by fire damage or exposure to sources of heat or flame by 1.

Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all fire damage taken by 1, and the DC of saving throws caused by fire damage or exposure to sources of heat or flame by 2.

Very Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all fire damage taken by 2, and the the DC of saving throws caused by fire damage or exposure to sources of heat or flame by 3.

Resist Freeze (Elemental)

Common. An outfit with this weave reduces all freeze damage taken by 2, and the DC of saving throws caused by freeze damage or exposure to chillwater or other sources of cold by 1.

Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all freeze damage taken by 4, and the DC of saving throws caused by freeze damage or exposure to chillwater or other sources of cold by 2.

Very Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all freeze damage taken by 6, and the DC of saving throws caused by freeze damage or exposure to chillwater or other sources of cold by 3.

Resist Melee Damage (Physical)

Common. An outfit with this weave reduces all melee impact damage taken by 4.

Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all melee impact damage taken by 8.

Very Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all melee impact damage taken by 12.

Resist Ranged Damage (Physical)

Common. An outfit with this weave reduces all ranged impact damage taken by 4.

Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all ranged impact damage taken by 8.

Very Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all ranged impact damage taken by 12.

Resist Shock (Elemental)

Common. An outfit with this weave reduces all shock damage taken by 2, and the DC of saving throws caused by shock damage or exposure to other sources of electricity by 1.

Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all shock damage taken by 4, and the DC of saving throws caused by shock damage or exposure to other sources of electricity by 2.

Very Rare. An outfit with this weave reduces all shock damage taken by 6, and the DC of saving throws caused by shock damage or exposure to other sources of electricity by 3.

Stealth

Common. An outfit with this weave grants a +2 bonus to Finesse (Stealth) ability checks.

Rare. An outfit with this weave grants a +4 bonus to Finesse (Stealth) ability checks.

Very Rare. An outfit with this weave grants a +6 bonus to Finesse (Stealth) ability checks.
